Echo (character)
Echo is an artificial intelligence.
Echo is ambiguous and possibly manipulative, but has what appears to be comprehensive knowledge about present, future, and speculative events.

Echo is first picked up in mission C1L9, where it is described as "a secret PnC weapon". Tyr and Holloway agree that such a powerful weapon should be taken and not left in the hands of Precision and Contingency, and it is picked up by Tyr. Voices start to appear in Tyr's mind, and then solidify into an entity who calls itself "Echo". Echo shows knowledge about future and current events, events that otherwise wouldn't be known to Tyr or anyone in Tyr's position. Tyr, tiring of it, tries to abandon it. But it convinces Tyr to pick it back up again, claiming that "Lachesis found me useful enough". Echo proves useful, giving Tyr the ability to communicate with the Vecgir, and notifying Tyr of several events that Tyr would've otherwise not known, and a couple hypothetical events. Echo then betrays Tyr when he sabotages Holloway's efforts to disable some Grekim capital ships. This leads (partly) to the Grekim capital ship on which Tyr was fighting to chronoport back 13,000 years, with Tyr inside. Echo then gives Guardian and Tyr a way for them to communicate, as well as Tyr's design for a Temporal Receiver.
Echo and Tyr
Echo seems apathetic towards Tyrs goals. Echo seems to take pleasure in his mystery and apparently super-normal abilities to predict the future, and will often do so, and although hasn't been shown to be wrong, appears to be manipulative and with a hidden agenda.
Along with Tyr, Echo is chronoported back in the same capital ship that chronoported Tyr and the human and Vecgir survivors. Wherever Echo went after that, he was found by human colonists in a Grekim capital ship, and was reconstructed by Tyr to help in the Human/Vecgir offensive against the Grekim, as Jormun. Jormun betrays the humans/Vecgir, presumably killing all of them, and, after Tyr cripples the coremind and goes to finds Jormun, reveals that is the next Echo, who will come back as the next Jormun, traversing the Temporal Loop. Echo apparently has a strong interest in keeping the Temporal Loop alive and from resolving itself, apparently enjoying watching and observing "The stark mechanical beauty" of every cycle. It is possible that at the very first "Echo"/Jormun was Lachesis himself, or perhaps Nocturne (Nocturne was created to help destroy the Grekim fleet at Remnant, and the temporal loop does ensure that), although no indication of this has been given, and it is not clear whether Echo is even Omega Class Ai or not.
